Sierra Vista Elementary values family and community involvement in school improvement. In Colorado, each public school is required to establish a School Accountability Committee (SAC) under C.R.S. 22-11-401
School Accountability Committee
The School Accountability Committee is an advisory group that provides input on school priorities, improvement planning, family engagement, and the use of school resources.
Under C.R.S. 22-11-402, school accountability committees have responsibilities that include:
-
Recommending spending priorities to the principal
-
Advising the principal and district leadership on the school performance or improvement plan
-
Meeting at least quarterly to discuss progress related to the school plan
-
Supporting parent and family engagement
-
Providing advisory input related to principal development plans and evaluations, when requested
The committee includes the principal or designee, at least one teacher, parents or guardians of students enrolled at the school, a representative from a recognized parent/student/teacher organization, and a community member involved in business or industry.
Getting Involved
Families are encouraged to participate in school accountability conversations throughout the year. Meeting dates, membership information, and opportunities to provide input will be shared through school communication channels.
